I don't know how many times people hit me up for donations. I am always hesitant to give anything, because I prefer to give to places that actually spend their money on people and not overhead.
The two places I do give money to are the USO and the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS). I use the USO facilities extensively when traveling, and NMCRS has always been a huge help to sailors who happen to be down on their financial luck.
There is a push for a funding drive for NMCRS going on now. Read it here:
