Officer required reading

So from another blog I found an AWESOME document called THE ARMED FORCES OFFICER, located here:

http://www.apd.army.mil/pdffiles/p600_2.pdf

One paragraph I particularly like as an IW:

Understanding the work of subordinates. Ideally, an officer should be able to do the work of anyone serving under that officer. We do not live in an ideal world. Our system has become so complex and technical that, except for the most simple situations, the ideal cannot be achieved with any hope of getting the job done. It is critical, however, that the officer know the job and demonstrate an understanding of the work problems that concern the subordinates, so that effective command is possible.
