UAV pilots < Regular Pilots
Interesting short article about UAV pilots not having the promotion rate of regular pilots:
http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2012/10/air-force-ask-gao-review-uav-pilots-promotion-rate-100312/
Not a huge surprise. The services promote the majority of folks from the areas they best identify with:
- Air Force: fighter pilots, followed by bomber pilots
- Army and Marine Corp: Infantry (although we now have an aviator as the Commandant)
- Navy: split between Surface, Subs and Air
If you happen to fall outside of these, you get the scraps until you become too mainstream to ignore. I'm willing to bet UAV pilots will begin eclipsing regular pilots in 15 years.
