Can you spare your senior chief for two weeks?

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Michael D. Stevens speaks to the current class of the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA) in Newport, R.I.

The MCPON agrees with me: senior enlisted need to go to a war college. But everyone is so busy! How do you do it?

How about the blended Senior Enlisted Academy? Can you spare your Senior Chief for two weeks?

  1. My observations are we are going at this backwards. We must promote and retain the people who are gaining the knowledge outlined in this course on there own. I have seen many top FITREPs and promotions based on organizing the Navy Ball or Leading Chiefs initiation while the individuals neglected there professional skills because they aren't incentivized in any way. So my point is I can't agree with the conclusion we need a war college for Senior Enlisted. We need to motivate the right behaviors with our leadership and policies, not consume resources to train after we have already promoted someone.
